Kathy Osthus

Kathy has been a member of Minnesota Valley Church since it began.  It is where she was married and where she was able to raise her children in a God-fearing way.

While she grew up in South Dakota, Kathy and has called Minnesota home since making the decision to attend AFLBS (Association of Free Lutheran Bible School) right out of high school. From AFLBS Kathy went on to study Family Relationships at the University of Minnesota and received her bachelor’s degree.

For the last 15 years, Kathy has volunteered as our youth leader, nurturing our young men and women and guiding them in the Truth. She says that her inspiration for being involved with MVC youth really comes down to her own children: “Besides my relationship with the Lord, I really had a desire for my kids to be involved in a youth group in a church and doing things. All of the missions trips and everything I planned for the youth really flowed into my kids and their friends. That really was my kids’ social life and it was a wonderful thing.”

In addition to leading the youth, Kathy finds joy and fulfillment in the simple things. She loves to read, cross-stitching (when she has time), teaching and tutoring for ESL and being around people.

Minnesota Valley is blessed to have Kathy on board as a mentor for our young men and women. Her heart is to see a generation fully devoted to serving the Lord and she leads by example. Through her time and efforts, Kathy has coordinated numerous fundraisers, missions trips and other activities, not only for the youth, but for everyone in the church.
