Mark Olson has served as the pastor at MVC since January of 2007. He grew up in Bloomington and has many fond memories of time spent in the Minnesota River Valley area. As a young adult he spent summers in places like Scotland and Ireland (traveling via bicycle and ministering as opportunities arose).

 

Mark began congregational ministry as a youth worker and has never stopped having a heart for ministering to teens and children. During his 20 years as a pastor, Mark has served churches in Illinois, South Dakota, and North Dakota.

 

Mark's training for life and ministry included completing three ministry related master degrees through Christian institutions and a doctorate at the University of South Dakota; yet it continues through the daily learning experiences that God provides.

 

Mark is extremely thankful to God for his wife, Dawn, and their four children; Ben, Katie, Scott, and Emily. When God created families he had a great plan!

 

Mark finds joy in the daily adventure of seeing God reveal himself through the Word, circumstances, and in the lives of those he encounters. One of Mark's passions is to minister together with other Christians in places of great need in the world. This has led him repeatedly to places like Guatemala and Mexico and some of the challenging inner city locations in the US.

 

Refreshment for Mark comes in various forms. Biking, rollerblading, running, hiking, canoeing, and the like are all great. "Mystery Road Trips" are awesome, as his family and youth group are starting to realize.
