Hello Neighbors,
I hope you have a church. If you don’t, our little congregation near the corner of Highview and 160th Street might be one you would like to visit. Why? Because we are unique. Our church personality is “small town.”
We still sing hymns every Sunday along with newer songs, we recite the Apostle’s Creed and pray “The Lord’s Prayer.” We stay after the service for refreshments and hang around to “visit.” We take prayer requests. We have several small group Bible study groups and a well-run Christian pre-school. Our roots are Norwegian Lutheran but our worshipers come from America as well as Africa, Mexico and South America. We have a high view of Scripture with an emphasis on a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, prayer and world missions. We are sinners, saved by grace and our focus is Jesus, crucified, risen and coming again!
Acts 2:42, summarizes our activities: “They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer.”
Our church is small in a city of mega-churches. We share our building with another smaller Bible-oriented church. If you live in the city but miss the church from your small-town roots or if you feel lost in a mega-church, I would encourage you to visit us some Sunday at 10:30 AM.
My wife, Sharon, and I have served churches in bush Alaska, woodland Wisconsin and Appalachian Ohio for over 25 years. Sharon was a missionary teacher in the jungles of equatorial Liberia, West Africa, for eleven years before we were married. I was a public school music teacher in the Alaskan interior and I am a licensed airplane pilot and antique steam tractor engineer! We would love to meet you. Please feel free to contact me if you have questions.
Yours in Christ,
Pastor Tom Olson
